Adding a table lamp or two can soften a brutish chest of drawers, as well as adding a variety of ornaments, photo frames and your favourite curated trinkets. A luxury chest of drawers may even be preferable to a console table, as it offers additional storage in your hallway.

If you’re working in a smaller space, you want to maximise the floor space visible so the eye is drawn to the edge of the room. However, for maximum effect, nothing beats a fully mirrored chest of drawers as it will help keep the overall aesthetic light and airy, while rather obviously, reflecting the colours, tones and materials you have chosen for the rest of the room. If space isn’t an issue, you can get away with powerful black and dark stained wood — the bigger the better, for a luxurious, opulent feel.
